19th Century Engraving of "Cathedrale de Reims"

$ 1,850
  • Description
    An excellent and large 19th century view of the portal of Reims Cathedral in Reims, France. The church is the seat of the Archdiocese of Reims and is the building in which the French Kings were crowned. This view likely follows the 1875 restoration approved by the French National Assembly of the eastern front which is considered on elf the great masterpieces of Medieval European architecture. During World War I the building sustained heavy damage but has been under restoration since 1919 with the financial support of the Rockefellers.
