Description | If you collect silhouettes, you know the most collected artist is Augustin Edouart. If you don't know his story, we invite you to read about him at our website at https://peggymcclard.com/justforfun/silhouettist_bios.asp?action=view&aid=1 In recent years, a new and exciting discovery of Edouart's surfaced from a Parisian bookseller: Edouart’s personal folio of “Scraps” in a book labeled “Animaux”. This scrapbook was filled with miniature animals and mythical creatures that Edouart used either as practice for new forms or for his own pleasure. The mythical creatures in this book are fascinating. We are lucky enough to own more than 200 of the figures from this book. I loved the creature tooting his horn while riding a skeletal creature since the moment I saw them. Once I started working to place the 3 piece figures in a frame, I thought of the monsters as walking down a road and felt that they needed a pedestrian to be stopped in his tracks watching them. A quick trip through Edouart’s fantastic mythical creatures and I had found the perfect watcher….the troll with his walking stick and basket. I think he is on his way home from market, don’t you? | ||||||||
