Description Fantastic mixed media painting by American artist Ferdinand DeVito, Created in 1965, this item was part of a retrospect of his work held at Binghamton University in 1968.

DeVito received his artistic training at the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1954 and earned a M.F.A from Yale University in 1956. In addition to exhibiting widely, DeVito taught at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Among the many national venues to host DeVito was the Michelson Gallery in Washington, DC.

Before joining the art and art history department at Binghamton in 1967 he had been on the faculty of the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture.

The striated black and white sections are made from optic plastic. As you walk from side to side the shaped in the center section move visually. The yellow section is a highly textured surface in a perfect mid century yellow.

Retains the original frame and is signed, dated and numbered.
