Description Set of four oversized oil on canvas panels in painted frames; "Scenes Along the Hudson," executed by Thomas Benjamin Pope (1833-1891) for the upper interior axis of a 19th century carousel at Newburgh, New York. Each of these four surviving paintings depict actual scenic locations along the Hudson River; the other four were destroyed by fire. Ex: The collection of Alice Curtis Desmond Fish, who maintained a home in an enclave not far from the location of the original carousel.
