Malini Vira is an Indian-American artist currently residing in Washington DC. After completing her studies in textile design and English literature, she spent some years painting saris and shawls for a boutique in New Delhi. She spent many years moving from one country to another, each of which influences her artistic style.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I love working with watercolors because I find its unique spontaneity very captivating even though it can be difficult to master. Painting keeps me grounded, relaxed and at peace. Living near the waterfront and the C & Canal in Georgetown, I’ve been fortunate to catch a glimpse of a number of birds. Birds, in general, symbolize freedom and determination to me.
