Description A delightful little landscape scene, the work depicts a rural mill with a house attached to it. Two ladies are bringing back a bucket filled with water from the pond while smoke rises from the chimney. As a very small piece, the detail is quite good with beautifully represented foliage filling the trees and reflecting in the quiet pool of water. The work is executed in oil on artist panel and is signed lower left ME DocKree with his rather distinctive oversized K. An old gallery label verso notes this as having been represented by Bond Street Galleries in London at some point. It is housed in a rather fine pierced gilt-wood frame.

Mark Edwin Dockree is a well-listed artist, most notably for his high representation at exhibitions throughout London. Between 1856 and 1890 he is recorded as exhibiting at Suffolk Street 46 times, the British Institution 6 times, the Royal Academy 10 times and other various exhibitions 6 times.

Condition Report:
Some minor early impressions in the paint along upper left edge, perhaps from setting in a frame too soon after completion. Would benefit from being cleaned at some point.
