Description
Still life after pheasant massacre.A beautiful composition with warm and nuanced colors.Remi Van Sluys was born in Berchem, Belgium in 1907. He was a post impressionistic painter of landscapes, urban views, still life paintings, religious interiors and portraits.He studied at the Berchem and Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts with some of the great Flemish master teachers and artists, including Frans Mortelmans, Reusens, Floris Jespers, J. Posenaer and J. Creytens.Van Sluys is highly respected for his bold strokes, a generous palette and his compositions with vibrant colors. Retrospectives of his works were held in Berchem in 1982 and in Ekeren in 1989.
