Antique Texas Seal
Hand sewn and highly embellished seal of Texas which depicts the first seal of Texas designed in 1836
The coat of arms of the Republic of Texas, originally adopted by the Texas Congress in December 1836, It was finally established by an act of Congress on January 25, 1839. It was described to be a white star of five points on an azure ground encircled by olive and live oak branches. The national seal bore the arms encircled by the words Republic of Texas.
The current Seal of the State of Texas was adopted through the 1845 Texas Constitution, and was based on the seal of the Republic of Texas, which dates from January 25, 1839.
Antique State Seals and Federal Seals are extremely rare as this example.
