Modernist Steel Wall Sculpture of polished rolled Steel.. This sculpture was made for the lobby of Armco Steel Company showcasing the modernization of Steel Production. Hung proudly in the lobby until 1989 when Armco was sold.
Polished rolled steel cut on angels in sections with black striped details. Monumental size having 11 pieces, hangs easily, each piece hangs on two screws.
Armco Steel an historic American company, 1899-1989.
In 1921, ARMCO employee John Butler Tytus developed a process for producing rolled steel that went from producing 520 tons per month to 40,000 tons per month, revolutionizing the Steel Industry. Armco Steel 1899-1989
In 1904 the ARMCO shop committee was formed making it one of the first companies in the nation which allowed workers to organize. Shop committees were predecessors to unionization and 1920 Armco implemented the 8 hour work day for the Steel industry. -
