Description
The most famous and powerful Grecian oracle resided high on the slopes of Mount Parnassus in the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. Thus the Pythia would, after certain rituals had been performed, offer cryptic answers to questions put to her. In this piece Berlin has surrounded his priestess with electric blue light by using an ancient and very intricate Japanese technique of painting over silver leaf. She is every bit the mystic priestess, self-contained but vibrant. Berlin has brought thousands of years of the history that surrounds the Oracle at Delphi to life in this beautiful work.
