Description Here for your consideration is a charming oil on canvas painting of a young child holding an apple. American school; circa 1850 to 1870. The painting is not signed and has been professionally relined within the last twenty years. The painting has several small areas of inpaint; to the right of the child in the red drape.

The painting, although not signed appears to be in the style of William Morris Hunt. Hunt was born in Vermont in 1824 and died in 1879. Some of his child portraits bear a striking similarity to this one, especially paintings of his own daughter. The painting is framed in a silver gilt frame with some wear. Overall framed 30.75 by 26.5 inches.
