For sale we have an original antique oil on canvas painting signed and dated B. Imhoff 1911. Beautiful peaches and bunches of grapes are depicted in this stunning still life, with meticulous attention to lighting and detail. This painting is in a quality heavy reproduction frame, and is in very good condition. There are no holes, tears, or repairs. There is wear consistent with its age and use. Count Berthold von Imhoff (1868-1939) was an artist known for his renowned religious paintings and murals. Born in Germany in 1868, Imhoff immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he established a successful art and fresco business. He left Reading in 1914 and made his home and studio in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan area in Canada. From there he decorated churches in many rural villages of Saskatchewan and North Dakota as well as returning to Reading for commissioned work. In 1926, Imhoff completed what is considered his masterpiece – a cathedral in Reading, Pennsylvania. He decorated over 100 churches and was awarded a Knighthood by the Pope.
