Description David Kasman was born in 1962 in Boston and now resides in Newton, Massachusetts. Kasman is known for his bold oils painted en plein air on Monhegan Island, as well as harbor, beach and village scenes throughout New England. He is also recognized for his bronze sculptures.

Kasman studied sculpture at Cornell and continued his studies in France at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art. In 1998 he won first prize at the National Sculpture Competition, sponsored by the National Sculpture Society. In 2002 he began to study oil painting and a year later returned to the Lyme Academy of Fine Art to study painting and life drawing. Kasman was accepted into the Copley Society of Art in Boston and his work has been included in many juried shows there, as well as by several other New England galleries.

Kasman was awarded a residency at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center in September 2008. In 2011 his sculpture, Resurgence, a permanent outdoor sculpture commissioned by Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre, was unveiled in Harvard Square. Kasman’s paintings and sculptures are held in numerous prominent collections including: The Bush Family, Jamie Wyeth, Ernie Boch, Jr., Jack Connors, Jr., Remak Ramsay, and Joseph and Kathy O’Donnell.
