‘Softly’ is a large oil painting on canvas, typical of Francesca’s large canvases it focuses on figure and abstraction to reveal a woodland scene. In the woodland a figure may be seen who is contemplative, hidden within the landscape and revealed through large loose brushstrokes. The green and blue tones are uplifted by a lemon yellow hue that signifies the dappled light as it comes through the trees and the peach tones in the foreground give a sense of warmth.

Francesca Owen is an award winning artist who trained at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art in London and completed an MA at Falmouth University.
Francesca has worked with both UK and International galleries, exhibiting paintings and installation, giving talks and courses on landscape painting, pigments and dyes.
Francesca has exhibited work in SE Asia, London, Devon and Cornwall.
