Description

This pretty oil painting is a charming work by Louis Perrey (b. 1856), a prolific painter working in France at the turn of the 20th Century. It is titled 'Le Bouquet des Fleurs', and depicts a young woman choosing flowers to put into a bouquet. She holds one pink flower with her right hand and a darker, almost red flower with her left.

The painter's brushstrokes have a loose delicacy to them, and expertly capture the serene concentration of the subject. She is shown in loose clothing, with her hair tied and a pink sash around her waist.

Set in a carved giltwood frame and signed 'Louis Perrey' to the upper right.
