Description Artist Lucien Génin was born in Paris in 1894. He received his initial artistic training at L’Ecole des Beaux-arts in Rouen, and then in 1919 went on to study at L’Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. A master of multiple mediums, Génin worked in oils, watercolors, gouache and pastels, as well as doing many drawings. During his career he exhibited in Paris and abroad, receiving an award from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1932. In 1960 in Paris, a solo exhibition was held of Génin's paintings.

His works are housed in private and public collections in France as well as the United States, including in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Génin's style is distinctively post impressionist; he painted quickly and combined within his works an air of spontaneity and innocence. Génin completed a large body of works during his career, many of which are urban landscapes capturing views of Paris, Rouen, Lorient and Dinan.
