Description Oil on canvas painting by the California artist, Paul Lauritz. Signed lower left. Most likely a Glendale, California scene where Lauritz lived and painted. Here the artist captures the heavily laden snow on the tree branches with the beautiful light that follows after a new snow fall. In excellent original condition with no restorations. Overall in gold leaf frame 31 1/2 x 43 1/2 inches. Provenance: from a Studio City, CA collection.

Paul Lauritz Biography
Internationally known for his landscapes and seascapes, Lauritz was born in the small art colony of Larvik, Norway. At age 16 he moved to eastern Canada, then worked his way west as a commercial artist in Vancouver and Portland, OR, where he began painting landscapes and portraits. In 1919 he settled in Los Angeles, where he taught at the Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes. Lauritz was an active member of the Los Angeles art community, serving for six years on the Los Angeles Municipal Art Commission.
