Description
“Sunroom” was painted in response to the room at the back of the artist’s home where the family share their meals. There are several large windows in this room. These windows provide a borrowed view of the artist’s garden and surrounding bushland that is a constant inspiration. The room also includes a wall filled with artworks. This wall is used to view alternate artworks due to the excellent light in the room. The composition of “Sunroom” consists of a long linear sequence across the canvas where the entire room has been visually folded out and flattened. The warm color of the room has become an exaggerated yellow in the painting to reflect the changeable way we experience and perceive colors.
