Creation Date Circa 1965
Description Oil on artist canvas board by the American artist, Tea Sternklar of a vibrant harbor scene. The painting was done primarily by palette knife. Signed lower right. Circa 1965. Condition is very good. Recently professionally cleaned. Provenance: Southampton, Long Island estate. The painting is housed in a custom gold leaf gallery frame (new) 26.25 by 22.25 inches.

Tea Sternklar (1905-1997)
She is recognized as an artist of international level. Her paintings have been viewed by thousands in exhibits throughout the country.

Sternklar was born in Poland, but listed most of her young life in Italy (where she spent 14 years) and then Israel (15 years). Upon moving to the United States, she lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. Before retiring in 1977, she was a bookkeeper for an art supply distributor in New York City, where she worked for 15 years. During this time she taught herself how to paint and exhibited her work was exhibited in Greenwich Village (at least 10 years) and the White House. During the Kennedy administration, one of her works depicting President Kennedy with daughter Caroline was gratefully accepted by the White House and is now part of the Kennedy legacy. She lived the last years of her life in New Jersey.

She won several awards from the Salmagundi Scholarship Fund. She was also featured in a number of articles in the Long Island Herald, the Village Voice, among others. She also judged many local art competitions. In addition, she offered her services to help restore art work with historical value.
