Marcel Bever Art Deco Mask

$ 2,500
  • Description
    A wall mounted porcelain mask mounted in a hammered iron frame, signed M. Bever Paris, Made in France, circa 1925.
    The iron frame is stamped 'France' and was made to be electrified and illuminated with a single candelabra size lightbulb, causing the porcelain face to be illuminated from behind. Edgar Brandt is known to have designed wrought iron for Maison Robj, for whom Marcel Bever designed many ceramics.

(There is a watercolor of a man and woman in an interior by Corbusier dated 1949 and dedicated to Marcel Bever). He also did set design for the theater.
