    Exhibited in Rome in 1953 with the exhibition label affixed inside.

    Glazed ceramic, Hand-formed sculpture of a head with abstract surface decoration. Sicilian-born and active in Rome, Salvatore Meli drew from the richness and dignity of Etruscan and Greek pottery, establishing a distinctive style. Examples of his work can be found in the book titled " La Ceramica in Italia" along with works by Gio Ponti, Richard Ginori, Lucio Fontana and other important mid- century Italian Artists.
    Pieces by Meli are very rare to find.
