Description Tookey was the Zorach family cat for nine years. #3;#3;Zorach made a great number of drawings of cats as well as #3;carvings of them done in various materials, including stone and wood, over the span of his career.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has a version of this sculpture in granite in its #3;permanent collection, which is currently on view at the American Museum of Folk art in the exhibition "Folk Art and American Modernism," on view from July 18 through September 27, 2015.

This example was exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in the Forty-First Annual Exhibition in 1928. It was also exhibited in 1929 in the exhibition Contemporary American Sculpture at the #3;California Palace of the Legion of Honor, and is illustrated #3;in the catalog.#3;#3;
