Mid-Atlantic States, probably Pennsylvania, ca. 1840-1860.
Ink on paper, in a period gilt frame.
22 ¾” x 30 ¾” with frame
Great condition, minor toning on left side from original backboards, now conserved with acid-free backing. This wonderful bold example depicting a lion is executed with a fine hand yet captures a whimsical and folky feel to the lion’s face.
