Description
Provenance: Thomas Brown Wilber, Elizabeth, New Jersey
Camillo Procaccini was the son and pupil of Ercale Procaccini. After his early studies he went to Rome where he copied Michelangelo and Raphael. He visited Parma and was influenced by Correggio and Parmigianino. He returned to Bologna but the influence of the Carraci was against his establishing himself there. In Milan he was applauded and lauded for his many important works. He had imagination and a great facility in drawing. Procaccini was also a fine engraver, usually of religious subjects. His work is in many European museums. - More Information
