Description During a period of living in New Mexico Benefiel did a series of harrowing drawings that incorporated antique dolls that he had inherited from his grandmother.
It was a difficult period for Charles as he was dealing with obsessive compulsive tendencies which contributed to drawing with repetitive marks or dots of ink to build up his images. He incorporated other elements into his image to render it more autobiographical and reflect his state of mind. The picture was worked on arches paper with tea used to stain the paper to get rid of the white that was too bright.
Styles / Movements Illustration, Outsider Art
