This mahogany, walnut, and exotic woods bed, c. 1900’s, is a stunning example of French Art Nouveau marquetry craftsmanship and its attention to detail. The headboard features a shaped and moulded crest centered by highly-carved shell, floral, and foliate motifs, over a central panel of intricate marquetry-inlaid ribbon, floral, foliate, musical instrument, and scrollwork decoration, raised on moulded, carved rectilinear columns resting on carved cabriole uprights terminating in French toes resting on carved pads. The footboard is of like design with three marquetry panels presenting similar motifs as the headboard.
