    An exceptional chest created in the late 1700s in Italy, likely as a marriage chest, with a rare series of rich relief carvings/painting (both gilt and trompe-l’oeil decoration). Case edges and key plates are finely worked perforated brass. Side handles in forged iron. No key. Small top back trim missing, one side handle plate missing. Remains exceptional for its age.
