  • Description
    This artists pigment cabinet is on an amazing state of preservation. This circa 1800-1820, chest was designed for holding a artists supplies for mixing paints. Each drawer containing remnants of the individual colors as pictured. The upper shelf likely for holding the supplies for mixing the paints.
    As can be seen from the pictures this chest was very tightly engineered to keep the powdered pigments contained and dry. Each drawer constructed in poplar with 20 dovetails and the drawer bottoms attached with 18 cut nails.
    The pine case construction is mortise and tenon and is tight as can be. The back is poplar and attached with hand cut nails.
    Just a beautiful state of preservation and patina, retaining its red wash surface.
