Description Antique gilt bronze mounted vitrine cabinet
French, 19th Century
Height 131cm, width 144cm, depth 42.5cm
This large and grand vitrine cabinet is executed with precision and skill, and would make a well-appointed addition to any refined, luxury interior.
The vitrine is of rectangular form and the front and sides are inlaid with rectangular glass panels set into the wooden frame. The vitrine features a central apron to the front that opens as a door, which allows access to the interior glass shelf and the mirrored backing and base shelf. The panes of glass are mounted with ormolu beading. Above the doors runs an ormolu frieze of scrolling acanthus leaf and geometric fluted patterning, below a white, veined marble top. The cabinet is set on four elongated bracket feet which are mounted with scrolling acanthus leaf.
The display cabinet is marked to one of the ormolu mounts with the spurious signature 'Henry Dasson 1880'.
