Art Deco Chinoiserie Mirrored Top Chest of Drawers

Description
Something of a show-stopper, this gorgeous chest of drawers is of remarkable quality with fantastic aesthetics. It is typical of the 1940s with its exploration of prior periods while introducing modern elements to set it apart, in this case borrowing the sleek form from the Regency period in England while lightening the seriousness of the case with the mirrored top and fantastic variety of scenes from "The Orient" in the relief chinoiserie surface decoration.
Built to last the test of time, it is a fine quality piece with solid oak drawer secondary woods that are hand dovetailed in the rear corners and dovetailed into the drawer facade behind cockbead moldings.
These are situated rather uniquely as four individual drawers in the top row, two individual drawers in the middle row and a single broad horizontal drawer in the bottom row, but the cockbead profiles in the drawer facades create the illusion of twelve drawers. The overall chest is raised on outward flared French feet with a beautifully scalloped apron.
This is such an interesting piece with so many design easy applications in the entryway, living room, study and naturally the bedroom.
