Highly unusual circa 1840 Austrian Biedermeier three-drawer commode or chest having bookmatched walnut veneered D-form rectangular case; the stepped plinth-form top having rounded corners surmounting unique three-row 'tubular band' with concealed top drawer above two flat-fronted lower drawers on turned bun feet at front and post-form supports at rear. An exceptional piece of rare design befitting a 'modern' or art deco interior.

Veneer with scattered minor stable rippling, pine case with minor unobtrusive worming; presents beautifully. Exquisite age patination. All three original keys present.
