In a fall 1989 review of the High Point Furniture Market, the NY Times had this to say about Pfister's collection: "In one of the market's handsomest offerings, Baker introduced a 60-piece collection by Charles Pfister, the '21' Club designer also known for his office furniture; he had never done a residential collection. The pieces, many executed in honey-colored primavera wood with canted corners and concentric brass pulls, reflected the influence of 18th and 19th-century Russia and 18th-century Sweden, as well as the 1950s furniture of T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings.".
