FINE PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY GILT BRONZE MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND MARQUETRY MARBLE TOPPED COMMODES.
A fine pair of 19th Century French gilt bronze mounted tulipwood and marquetry inlaid marble top breakfront commodes in the transitional style.
French, circa 1870
The breakfront Rouge Royale marble tops having a moulded edge above doors inlaid with neo-classical urns of summer flowers against banded and quarter-veneered panels flanking by conforming panels within bronze mounted canted corners. The central door having an ornate escutcheon plate opens along with the smaller side door to reveal a shelved interior.
Raised on square cut cabriole legs with mounts to the knee and feet.
Rare to find a pair and of excellent colour, these commodes are offered in fine condition. -
