French Early 19th Century Louis XV Style Oak Buffet

Description
A fantastic single-door oak buffet, made in France circa 1820. The tall cabinet was made using solid oak, which is blonde in color, and fastened together using peg joinery. The lightly toned wood exposes the beautiful grain which is sometimes less visible in darker furniture. The panel door is hung on steel barrel hinges, has a working lock and cut-steel escutcheon. Louis XV influence can be seen in the curved, scrolled details that have been hand-carved into the top of the buffet’s door. The rounded front corners have also had hand-carved details added. The interior has a single fixed shelf which has a drawer beneath. An absolutely wonderful antique case piece.
