Otto Schulz inlaid sideboard Boet, Sweden c1930

Price Upon Request
  • Description
An extremely rare Boet sideboard featuring a trompe l’oeil decoration, blackened wood
structure and walnut veneer. With cheeky, stacked feet and playful inlays that bring to mind an early take on pop art, this piece doesn’t take itself too seriously, but retains a refined elegance in its proportions and understated colour palette.

Otto Schulz was a German-born architect, designer and publisher. In 1920, he established
Boet in Gothenburg, a prestigious interior design shop that ran for 30 years. He produced a magazine of the same name, which became the most influential Swedish design periodical of its time. Mixing modern and baroque styles, Schulz was also known for his inventive concepts.

Burr walnut interior fitted with an adjustable height shelf and three drawers. Good vintage condition, newly restored. Surface marks and ‘texture' to the left side.
