Reference: Please see Edward S. Cooke Jr. “The Social Economy of the Preindustrial Joiner in Western Connecticut, 1750-1800” in American Furniture 1995, specifically pages 128-129 and figures 16-17 for two desks probably made by Ebenezer Hubbell. Also, the desk and bookcase on pages 423-425, number 202, in Nancy Richards and Nancy Evans New England Furniture at Winterthur has the same inset carved shell and Spanish feet. Those attributes are also seen in a desk from the Woodbury area in Litchfield County Furniture 1730-1850, page 62-63, an exhibit held at the Litchfield Historical Society.
