Outstanding, small Biedermeier Secretaire / writing desk from Austria, Vienna, circa 1820.
Wonderful book-matched walnut veneer on the outside and walnut roots veneer at the cornice rims.
Inside with eight long drawers, veneered in Ash with brass knobs. Ebonized, polished plate and compartment underneath.
Ebonized full-columns with heavy corinthian brass capitals and bases.
In the bottom, there are two doors with three bigger Ash veneered drawers.
Excellently restored with wonderful high-gloss shellac hand-polish (French polish).
The combination of walnut and ashwood, as well as the full-columns and brass parts makes it a typical, but extraordinary Viennese early Biedermeier furniture. -
