Description
Dimensions: 46 1/4?H x 57 3/4?W x 19?D
A charming painted secretary style desk from 19th century Sweden. The Swedes will often paint furniture in light, washed out colors to provide a sense of warmth during their long, drab winters. As its name implies, this secretary has a front that will fold down to reveal a well appointed work area. Complete with six drawers, and a large, central cubby, this desk is as functional as it is beautiful. The lower doors have working locks and close before a large interior cavity that contains one fixed shelf. The desk’s skirt is scalloped, with its shaped design incorporated into its bracket feet. c.1870. -
