Description
A charming walnut breakfront bookcase made for the aeronautical designer and engineer, Sir Oliver Simmonds, in 1938. The upper section has glass enclosed bookcases and glass shelves, the bottom with two drawers flanking a secretaire drawer with carvings related to images of the Mongolfier balloon flight in Paris at the turn of the 19th century. It is a wonderful small size with an interesting history.
