Description | Having carved rope-twisted quarter columns and vine carved panels flanking raised panel doors is fitted above a slant-top desk fitted with a carved shaped interior above four graduated drawers. Pieces with similar attributes, such as the vine carving on the upper case and carved fitted interior are found on pieces made between Springfield and Deerfield, Massachusetts. Condition: Replaced brasses, minor imperfections, finials appear to be original. Provenance: Colonial Henry Dwight, Springfield, Massachusetts; Dwight Family, Cambridge, Massachusetts , 1920's to a relative by direct line of descent. |
