A Rare and Iconic Italian Midcentury Modern Floor Lamp by Angelo Lelli for Arredoluce, Italy, circa 1959. This standing lamp (Cat. #256) is a master work of sculpture and materials. The modern angular brass stem is in counter-balance to itself. This dramatic form is set in counterpoint to a round white Carrara marble base and a round white opaline glass shades, The shades, reflecting Italian craftsmanship, are mold blown and ribbed. The original round, solid brass floor switch completes the piece. However, it is the sublime contrast of forms, shapes and materials that allows this light sculpture to dramatically and subtly define light and space . Dimensions: .Height 73.25 x Diameter: 11.75".
"Angelo Lelli was an Italian designer and founder of the lighting company, Arredoluce. Lelli was known for his innovative and modern designs that continuously pushed the boundaries of traditional lighting design". His creations were always modern and trend setting and they featured both sublime
and dramatic sculptural quality. Lelli's legacy will remain an important part of the history of modern Italian design and will reign as one of the most influential lighting designers in art and design history.
