1950s Gino Sarfatti metal & glass circular ceiling lamp for Arteluce. An extremely attractively scaled ceiling lamp of incomparably refined design comprised of a large painted metal disc with circular cut outs holding brass framed thick glass diffusers.
Arteluce was one of the most innovative lighting design companies in Italy during the midcentury era, with Sarfatti their superstar. His designs have been long sought after by collectors worldwide.
Literature ref. Romanelli & Severi "Gino Sarfatti: 1938-1973, Selected Works" similar model on p. 467. No manufacturer's stamp or label.
Rewired. Accommodates 5x 75w equivalent medium base bulbs (lower with incandescent). Not UL listed, but recommended UL listing possible from authorized 3rd party vendor upon request for an additional fee. Professionally rewired. Some patination, dings, scuffs and losses as largely shown in the photos and noted only for accuracy. Period style patinated brass ceiling plate added for mounting over a standard American j-box. -
