Curved Cylindrical Murano Glass Chandelier in Chrome Fittings

Description
This iconic and graphic Mid Century Modern chandelier was realized by the legendary designer Carlo Nason for Mazzega in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production- circa 1970. It features four curved and streamlined (a subtle homage to Art Deco design whose timeless modernist lines had a resurgence in the 1970s) Murano shades. The glass shades offer a subtle iridescence achieved through the addition of a wealth of miniscule translucent murines imbued into the glass. These staggered shades fit into lustrous cylindrical chrome bodies that attach via rectilinear supports to a central cylindrical stem- also in polished chrome. With its clean modernist lines and graphic silhouette- full of verve and élan- this piece represents the Mid Century Italian design at its very best. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The chandelier accommodates four candelabra based bulbs offering up to 240 watts of light.
