Description
Table lamp by Gertrud Löngren (1905-1970) for Rörstrand Fabnriks, having a cylindrical form with rounded shoulders and chamfered reveal; at its foot, ornamented with vertical bands with a diamond lattice pattern, in porcelain with a matte brown glaze; Sweden; 1930s-1940s; "RORSTRAND LONGREN SWEDEN L154 HANDDREIAD"
Longren was one of Sweden's most accomplished designed of stoneware pieces in the mid-20th century, her work typically featuring earthy colors and geometric relief ornamentation. This lamp is a rare example of her work in porcelain, which she uses to her advantage to emphasize the intaglio ornament against the smooth surfaces of the base. -
