Description Orange adjustable table lamp, Elmo, designed and produced by Imago DP Milano in 1971.

This relatively small table lamp has a movable shade with which the light intensity can be adjusted. The round base is weighted which allows the lamp to be placed in different positions. This flexibility is further enabled by a stabilising chromed metal ring.

The model has been produced in various colours; for instance in blue, yellow and -like this piece- in orange.

As described by Fulvio Ferrari and Napoleone Ferrari in 'Luce Lampade 1968-1973: il nuovo design italiano' the Elmo table lamp by Imago DP is part of a group of "pill-shaped lamps" that "highlights one of the forms typical of the 1960s, based on the elementary geometry of solids, and brightly coloured". Other examples of pill-shaped lamps are Amalia by Ivo Sedazzari for Prisma, Model 537 by Vittorio Gregotti, Ludovico Meneghetti and Giotto Stoppino for Arteluce and Katiuscia by Gianni Celada for Fontana Arte.

Very rare piece.
