The upper half of the bracket is decorated with a large scallop with beading and scrolls. The angel's upward turned hands are encircled by spiraling tendrils of acanthus which dip dramatically downward and rise up with classical branches and candle bobeches. An exuberant expression of 19th century classical motifs and forms. Italy, c. 1815.
