Description Architectural desk lamp in brass with a semi-conical shade designed by Paul Mayen and produced by Habitat, c. 1970's. The Spanish-born and Cooper-Union and Columbia University educated Mayen founded Habitat in the early 1950’s to supply lighting and some furnishings for modernist interiors; Habitat would later morph into Architectural Supplements and Intrex. The present lamp, a rare item especially in brass, has two sockets--one on each side of the central column. The shade has been re-made on the original wire frame. Retains original Habitat label underneath.
