A dramatically large carved, gilded and polychrome Spanish Baroque period frame.
The top edge decorated with carved gadroons; the black polychrome frieze decorated with estofado (the layering of gold or silver leaf over a gesso base, followed by an overlay of water based paint and a translucent glaze) technique in the shape of scrolling cauliculi over corners and centers. The sight edge decorated with gilded astragal molding partially distressed.
