French 19th Century Giltwood Mirror
-
Description
A fabulous combination of old and new, this stunning mirror melds two of design’s most treasured mediums: gold and marble. The gold gilt mirror is from 19th Century France. It has remarkably well preserved gold gilt, with some French red bole exposed mostly about the beaded pearl trim. The gilt frame also has a cut and dried reeded motif that is dignified and elegant. The mirror has had a newly painted backing applied. This exceptionally well-painted faux marble is colored in tones of taupe and stone that looks like an actual slab. The mirror has had its glass replaced.
