French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Gilt Mirror
-
Description
A timeless mirror style, this 19th century French example channels the orderly sophistication of Louis XVI`. Entirely hand-crafted, the back panel of the mirror is painted a nuanced “French Gray” that is well patinated. Wide, reeded molding surrounds the mirror glass whose parallel ribs are given incredible texture from gold gilding with red bole coming up through areas of craquelure. The original mirror plate is spotted with dark foxing in a random and unpredictable haze that begs a closer look at the reflection. The proportions, style, and simplicity of this mirror has universal appeal that ensures its welcome in any room. Be sure to view all the images to get a closer look.
